I am currently in India and will be here during much of my winter research term, doing field research for a project on public libraries, the public sphere, and community information services.  Most of my work is based in the southern Indian city of Bangalore (India’s major information technology hub), in the state of Karnataka.  I am exploring these areas within the discourse of India’s so-called “knowledge society.”  This project necessarily will engage with the tensions, contradictions, and opportunities present in India’s drive towards the creation of a more inclusive knowledge society.

Time and energy permitting, I will periodically blog on some of my observations and preliminary research findings.
